Turkey has shown double standards in its response to the recent blasts in India and Pakistan. While it strongly condemned the explosion in Pakistan as a “terror attack,” it described the Delhi blast merely as an “explosion,” downplaying the incident. This difference in statements has raised several questions. Interestingly, the Delhi blast took place hours before the one in Pakistan, yet Turkey issued its statement about India much later, showing a clear bias in its approach.
Turkey’s double standards have once again come to light. While Ankara called the explosion in Islamabad a “terror attack,” its tone toward India was far more restrained. This soft stance clearly highlights Turkey’s biased approach toward the two countries.
In its official statement on the blast in Pakistan, Turkey strongly condemned the incident and labeled it a terrorist attack, consistent with its tough position against terrorism. However, when reacting to the Delhi explosion on November 10, Turkey’s response was noticeably mild.
Issuing a statement titled “Attack in India,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery. It reiterated its general stand against terrorism but avoided directly referring to the Delhi incident as a terror attack.
Turkey Condemns Islamabad Attack
Turkey reacted strongly to the Islamabad blast, issuing a statement titled “Terrorist Attack in Pakistan.” It said, “We strongly condemn today’s (November 11) terrorist attack in Islamabad, Pakistan. We pray for those who lost their lives and wish the injured a speedy recovery. Turkey stands in full solidarity with Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.”
Pakistan Downplays Delhi Blast, Calls It a ‘Gas Cylinder Explosion
Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif downplayed the Delhi explosion, calling it merely a “gas cylinder blast.” He accused India of “politicizing the incident” for political gain. Speaking on a Pakistani TV show, Asif said, “Yesterday, it was just a gas cylinder explosion, but now they’re calling it a foreign conspiracy. Indian leaders are using this incident for politics. I wouldn’t be surprised if India blames us soon. If we are attacked, we won’t stay silent.”

Indian officials, however, noted that the minister’s defensive tone revealed Pakistan’s nervousness, especially after early findings by Delhi Police and central agencies indicated that the explosives used were of military grade.
