Shocking Murder In Gorakhpur: Husband Shoots Wife Dead In Busy Market

Mamta, a native of Khajani, was living with her daughter in a rented accommodation near Geeta Vatika.

In a shocking incident, a man shot his wife dead in the busy market of Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur on Wednesday. The incident reportedly took place at 8 pm on Jail Road under Shahpur Police Station limits over a property dispute.

According to reports, the victim has been identified as Mamta Chauhan, and her husband as Vishwakarma Chauhan. The woman had gone with her husband to a photo studio to get her photographs clicked. He had a hidden pistol in his helmet. Later, he took out the pistol and shot her dead.

The couple had been married for the last 15 years and had a 13-year-old daughter. They had been living separately for the last 1.5 years. Mamta, a native of Khajni, was living with her daughter in a rented accommodation near Geeta Vatika.

The accused stood at the crime scene for 25 minutes and said that he was “very troubled by her.”

Police said the accused was apprehended and a probe has been launched.
