Soochna Seth, CEO of an Artificial Intelligence startup and AI expert, is now in police custody for the tragic murder of her innocent son. The revelation that she was staying not in a hotel but a service apartment adds a somber twist to the unfolding case. Soochana’s husband, Venkat Raman, who rushed back from Jakarta upon hearing the news, gave consent for the post-mortem of their son in Chitradurga, Karnataka.
The shocking incident occurred between January 6 and 8 at a service apartment in Candolim, North Goa. Soochana and her son checked in on January 6, and she left for Bengaluru alone in a taxi on the night of January 8 and 9. Apartment staff discovered traces of blood in the room when cleaning after her departure, prompting them to alert the police. Notably, the staff mentioned her carrying an unusually heavy bag, and her son was nowhere to be seen.
Upon contacting the taxi driver through a travel agent, the police directed him to take Soochana to the nearest police station. The driver, at the time in Chitradurga, promptly drove to a police station, where Goa Police liaised with the local officers. Upon inspecting the bag, the police discovered the lifeless body of her son.
Soochna Seth was subsequently arrested and brought to Goa, where a court granted six days of police custody. Goa Police revealed that Soochana informed them about her ongoing divorce proceedings, indicating a separation from her husband.
A senior police officer stated that the child’s father, Venkat Raman, was in Jakarta when informed about the incident. He returned to India, reaching Chitradurga in the evening to authorize the post-mortem.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Soochana Seth allegedly strangled her son before attempting suicide by cutting her wrist, adding a layer of tragedy to this heartbreaking case.
