Four men dressed as Nihang Sikhs attacked Shiv Sena Punjab leader Sandeep Thapar Gora with sharp-edged weapons in Ludhiana, leaving him critically injured. Doctors have admitted Gora to the district hospital for treatment.
After delivering a speech in a locality, some people attacked Sandeep Thapar, who is a descendant of martyr Sukhdev Thapar. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

On Friday morning, Sandeep, accompanied by his gunman, attended the death anniversary ceremony of Ravinder Arora, president of Samvedna Trust which operates the Civil Hospital.
Four unidentified men dressed in nihang attire attacked Sandeep Thapar, alias Gora, 58, outside the Ludhiana civil hospital, just a week after authorities had reduced his security cover.
Police stated that the four accused attacked Thapar with swords and then fled. His sole gunman did not intervene to protect him or attempt to chase the attackers.

Eyewitnesses took the injured leader to the civil hospital, from where he was referred to the local Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.
After the incident, Shiv Sena leaders assembled at the civil hospital and chanted slogans against the Punjab government and the police.
