Tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified following unprovoked firing by Pakistan and attacks on Indian military installations. On Thursday, military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur were targeted by Pakistani drones and missiles along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir. All these threats were swiftly neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities in line with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Ministry of Defence mentioned no casualties and material losses and reiterated that India remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people.
People from different political parties condemned the actions of Pakistan. President of Shiromani Akali Dal, Sukhbir Singh Badal, condemned this action of Pakistan. Sukhbir Singh Badal wrote, “Strongly condemn Pakistan’s reckless and provocative shelling on civilian locations in Punjab and other parts of the country last night. I salute our Armed Forces for successfully foiling all their nefarious attempts!”
He also mentioned, “Also request all Indians, especially my Punjabi brothers and sisters, to stay calm, follow the administration’s instructions, and avoid unverified videos or news. We salute our brave soldiers and assure the Prime Minister and the Government of India that the courageous Punjabis stand with them in this fight against terror and will not shy away from making any sacrifice to protect our motherland.”
Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri, had drawn attention of the international community to Pakistan’s role in removing references made in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) press statement issued on April 25 to terrorist outfit The Resistance Front (TRF), which had taken plea responsibility for the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
While addressing a media briefing on Operation Sindoor in Delhi on Wednesday, Misri said that TRF, which is a front for the UN-proscribed terrorist group Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT), claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack and added that claims made by TRF were reposted by LeT. He recalled how India had earlier shared inputs regarding the TRF with the UN, bringing out its role as a cover for terrorists based in Pakistan.
