Snowfall Causes Disruption, Video Goes Viral

However, the heavy snowfall has also caused traffic disruptions, roadblocks, and strain on local infrastructure, making it challenging for both tourists and residents to navigate the area. A video is going viral on internet, where a vehicle can be seen facing difficulties while driving on icy road. The video features a car, white Toyota sedan slipping dangerously on the road covered with snow. Fortunately, a major accident is averted as the Toyota gets stuck instead of sliding down a slope, which could have led to potential damage.

The video has been shared on Instagram by user Vishal Chauhan. Passersby were surprised as the car skidded and slid down the road before stopping. The audio in the clip sounds, “Aankhon ke samne hi gadi slip ho gayi hai.”

Punjab Kesari Himachal reported that the incident took place at Shimla’s Lakkar Bazaar. After the car stuck on the road, several people came forward and offered help.

DC Shimla Urges Caution

Meanwhile, as the cold wave intensifies in Himachal Pradesh, the Shimla District Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap on Wednesday assured that all departments are ready to coordinate for any adverse situations.

Notably, Higher-altitude areas, including Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu, Chamba, and Dalhousie, have plunged into sub-zero temperatures.

Speaking to ANI, the Deputy Commissioner of Shimla District Administration, Anupam Kashyap said, “All stakeholder departments are prepared to coordinate in case of adverse situations. I request all people to avoid unauthorised parking as it can cause traffic which impacts the whole city. Please follow the police advisory on traffic.”

“The roads connecting to the capital are open. The roads going to upper areas of Shimla were opened yesterday, but people have been advised to avoid them during early morning and late evening as the roads are slippery. The police have been stationed at the bifurcations to guide tourists and locals,” he said.

With New Year celebrations approaching, the administration has taken steps to ensure smooth traffic and safety. Shimla is divided into zones for better traffic control, and parking is restricted on smaller roads to avoid congestion.
