New Delhi: In a deeply disturbing incident, a young man in his early 20s reportedly urinated on a senior citizen couple who were travelling in Uttar Pradesh Sampark Kranti Express. The man was evidently under the heavy influence of alcohol. The incident took place inside the B3 coach of the train on Wednesday night when the train was cruising towards Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Junction. "Our journey to the national capital was supposed to be peaceful, but never in our dreams we had thought that somebody would literally urinate on us," the passenger, a retired orthopaedic from Banaras Hindu University, told a leading news portal. The accused passenger, identified as Ritesh from Qutub Vihar, southwest Delhi, had boarded the train at Mahoba. Reports stated that Ritesh urinated on the senior citizen couple and their belongings as he was under the influence of alcohol. Fellow passengers in the coach quickly alerted the coach attendant and the Train Ticket Examiner (TTE). Upon reaching Jhansi railway station, TTE Basruddin Khan took immediate action. He called the attendants to sanitize the coach. Additionally, Khan filed a memo with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Jhansi, detailing the incident and handing over Ritesh for further legal action. Manoj Singh, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Jhansi division, North Central Railway, confirmed that the accused Ritesh was booked under Railway Act Section 145, which pertains to drunkenness or nuisance.
