New Delhi: After conducting an inquiry in the Jadavpur University premise, a panel formed by the institute on Tuesday stated that the student who fell off the hostel building was ragged before his death.
The committee said the victim had faced severe ragging in the campus, while also recommending punishments to those behind the restricted act.
Vice-Chancellor Buddhadeb Sau siad the committee submitted a report on Tuesday, 25 days after the incident, recommending the expulsion of four students and the suspension of several others for a year, reported the news agency PTI.
The commission also recommended the university to file FIRs against six former students who overstayed their dormitories and played a role in the incident, an official said. He said the six were not among 13 people arrested in connection with the death of the 17-year-old Bengali student.
Mr. Sau said the committee also considered administrative and infrastructure flaws, and advocated that all boarding students in block A2 of the Boys’ Dormitory where this student fell, banned them.

However, the recommendations would need to be approved by the university’s executive board, Mr. Sau said. The committee spoke with at least 150 people, including current and former students as well as dorm officials, before preparing the report, the official said.
Death Of Minor In Jadavpur University
The student, a minor in Nadia district, died the next day at the hospital from life-threatening injuries after falling from the second floor of a hostel building. As per the police officials, the victim was found lying in a poll of blood in naked conditions.

He had joined the university merely a week ago of the incident. On the first day of his classes, Swapnodeep was excited, told his parents who added that he was also sounding scared over something and he asked them to take him back.
