Guwahati: A team of Assam Rifles and Bishnupur Commando Police have apprehended two cadres of the banned organization People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
They have been identified as Self Styled Captain Keesham Kennedy Meitei (35 years) s/o Ibomcha Meitei and Hijam Ibochouba Meitei (43 years) s/o Biren Meitei. The apprehended cadres were handed over to the Kumbi police station for further investigation.
Under the leadership of OC Y Shaktisen Singh, CDO of Vishnupur District Police Commando, the team conducted the search operation in the Kumbi area at 10 am on Tuesday. During this, two people were detained for questioning at the IB-Sitapur road crossing.
Keesham Kennedy disclosed that he had joined PLA in 2009 through a person. He trained for four months at Nongket Camp in Myanmar. After this, he was allotted army number 3205. He had taken training from Lt. Col. Yaskul.

At the same time, Hijam Ibochouba also revealed that he joined the organization in 2000 through an Ibotomba of Kakking Khunau and completed 45 days of basic military training at Khongtan camp in Chandel near the Myanmar border. He got army number 316.
As part of the security, Imphal West District Police commandos conducted a search operation at Thangmiband Polem Lekai on Tuesday. According to police, 350 persons were verified and 70 houses, including rental rooms, were searched. Although there is no news of anyone’s arrest.
