New Delhi: In a joint operation by District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Security Forces (CRPF) in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district on Sunday, three hardcore Naxals were arrested. An IED was also recovered from them.
According to police, out of the three Naxalites arrested, a reward of Rs 8 lakh each was declared on two.
Kanker Superintendent of Police Shalabh Kumar Sinha said that the 30th battalion of DRG and CRPF were conducting a search operation in the forest area of Koyalibeda police station on Sunday. During this, the Naxalites started running away on seeing the police. Three men of the siege were captured. A walkie-talkie, a torch and Rs 6,000 have been recovered from their possession.
The three accused have been identified as Piluram Aanchal alias Salik Ram (35 years), Punau Ram Mandvi (22 years), a resident of Koylibeda, Kanker and Ramesh Punem alias Budhru (25 years), a resident of Bijapur.
Piluram was the Deputy Commander of Section A of Company No. 5 of the North Bastar Division. Punem was a member of Company No. 5. Both had a reward of Rs 8 lakh each. Piluram has cases of murder and attempts to murder registered against him, while Punem was wanted in an attempt to murder case.
