Srinagar: A massive search operation is underway on Thursday in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir where a militant and a soldier were injured in fighting a day earlier, reports news agency UNI.

The gun battle started on Wednesday between militants and security forces took place at Wanseeran Taripora in Kandi belt in Baramulla.

Kashmir Zone Police on Wednesday afternoon tweeted: “Encounter has started at Wanseeran Taripora area of Baramulla. Police and security forces are on the job.”

“A Pakistani terrorist who was injured in the gunfight is still trapped in the area and a massive search operation is going on,” Additional Director General of Police Vijay Kumar said on Thursday.

One army soldier was also injured, he added.

According to the report, the gunfight broke out in a forest area on Wednesday afternoon when security forces were carrying out an operation. After the initial exchange of fire, there has been no fresh contact with the militants.
