School Holiday, October 31, Tomorrow: As the Diwali and Chhath break ends across India, regular classes have already begun. However, one state celebrating a regional festival has declared a holiday tomorrow. Additionally, several states—especially those affected by Cyclone Montha—have extended school closures. Some schools have also been converted into temporary relief camps which will again extend closure. Know the state-wise situation here

School Holiday, October 31, Tomorrow: Diwali and post-Diwali holidays have now come to an end. Almost all the schools in the country had started working from today. However, school closure due to heavy rains and Cyclone ‘Montha’ will stay in effect until any further announcements from the respective states. Schools closed in Andhra Pradesh due to Heavy rain and ‘Montha’ Cyclone Alert

School Holiday, October 31, Tomorrow: Red, Orange, and yellow alerts issued by IMD for Andhra Pradesh will remain. Schools in many districts of Andhra Pradesh were to remain closed from October 27 to 31 because of heavy rain warnings from Cyclone Montha. Schools in the Kakinada district will be closed from October 27 to 31.

Other districts that have experienced or forecast heavy rains are also expected to announce holidays for all educational institutions. Districts such as Chittoor, Nellore, East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, and Prakasam have reported heavy rainfall over the past few days. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for more rain in the coming days.

IMD – Children to Remain Indoors

As the IMD has advised parents to keep children indoors and away from restricted areas, the likelihood of reopening schools and other institutions remains low. Announcements will be made by the respective district authorities based on latest local weather conditions. Parents are advised to check for the latest update on school portal and WhatsApp group.

Later, holidays were extended to more areas such as Bapatla, YSR Kadapa, Prakasam, Nellore, Tirupati, and Annamayya, where the situation worsened. Due to flooding and safety concerns, over 10,000 residents were evacuated from different parts of Andhra Pradesh to relief camps. Relief camps are set up mostly in schools and government buildings.

There are also reports of announcing school holidays in more districts. Red alerts have been issued, and holidays have been extended in the following districts

Schools turn into relief camps in Andhra Pradesh

School Holiday, October 31, Tomorrow: Owing to the impact of cyclone Montha, around 10,000 people have been moved to hundreds of relief camps set up in schools and government offices across several districts in Andhra Pradesh. This is another reason why school will not be opening tomorrow as people are still at the relief camps.

Cyclone ‘Montha’ Alert in Odisha

School Holiday, October 31, Tomorrow: According to the government and district officials, all schools, anganwadi centres, and colleges in Odisha’s Gajapati district will remain closed until October 30 due to Cyclone Montha. Eight southern districts have been designated as Red Zones. Mohan Charan Majhi announced the closure of schools in the state. CM Majhi said the schools and anganwadi centres are closed in nine districts till October 30 in the wake of the cyclone situation. However, as IMD has issued alert for the cyclone, it can be possible that the holiday announcement for tomorrow will be made in the late evening.

Schools in the Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal and Kalahandi districts of Odisha were also closed until October 30. Further information regarding school holidays is expected as per the weather conditions. Parents are advised to check for the latest update on school portal and WhatsApp group.

Will Schools Remain Closed in Telangana

School Holiday, October 31, Tomorrow: Schools, colleges in several districts of Telangana are likely to be closed on Friday, October 31 due to cyclone Montha. Districts of Khammam, Bhadradri and Kothagudem are likely to witness heavy rainfall, and schools in these districts were shut today. As the climatic condition s remain unchanged, district authorities may close the educational institution tomorrow also.

Are Schools in Tamil Nadu Closed Tomorrow?

School Holiday, October 31, Tomorrow: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange alert for several districts in Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Tiruvallur, and Ranipet. In Tamil Nadu, the districts which are on high alert are announcing holidays accordingly. School holidays have also been announced for the Tiruvallur district tomorrow due to Cyclone Montha alert. 

The district administrations are closely monitoring the weather situation, and a holiday will be announced accordingly. If the rain becomes heavier as expected, officials may declare school and college holidays in the affected districts at short notice to keep students safe. Parents are advised to closely monitor the school WhatsApp group and the official website.

Holiday for Schools in West Bengal

Schools in West Bengal were closed on October 27 and 28 for the Chhath Puja festival. Schools resumed classes on October 29. However, the state will remain closed tomorrow for celebrating Jagadhatri Puja.

Are Schools in Bihar closed Tomorrow?

School Holiday, October 31, Tomorrow: As Chhath Puja is a major festival in Bihar, schools in the state remained closed till October 29 and reopened on October 30. In Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh also the schools resumed.
