A woman allegedly conspired with her lover to murder her husband, dismember his body, and dispose of the remains at multiple locations in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal, police said. The case surfaced on December 15 after locals spotted polythene bags containing severed body parts near the Idgah on Patraua Road in Chandausi and alerted the police.
When the police came upon the bags and opened them, they found mutilated human remains, including chopped limbs. The police said that the body had been dismembered with extreme brutality, with the head, hands, and legs severed, complicating initial identification.

Identification through a tattoo
A crucial breakthrough came when investigators noticed the name “Rahul” engraved on one of the severed arms. Based on this detail, the victim was identified as Rahul (40), a shoe trader from the Chunni locality in Chandausi. Further verification confirmed his identity and helped police trace his family for further identification.

Suspicion soon fell on Rahul’s wife, Ruby, after it emerged that she had filed a missing persons complaint on November 18, weeks before the body parts were discovered. What really raised suspicions was the inconsistency in her statements, prompting a deeper probe.
Police used surveillance and technical evidence
The police further used surveillance inputs and technical evidence, and investigators reconstructed the sequence of events. Ruby, her alleged lover, Gaurav, and another individual have been detained (and subsequently arrested) for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police said Rahul and Ruby had been married for 15 years and had two children, a 12-year-old son and a 10-year-old daughter. The daughter’s statement proved significant to the case. She reportedly told investigators that her parents frequently argued and that three people often visited their home, sometimes bringing her chocolates.
Cross-questioning further brought out more details
During questioning, the daughter allegedly broke down and indicated her mother's involvement, urging police to punish those responsible. A search of Rahul’s house led to the recovery of several items, including a cot leg, a scooter, a bag, a toilet brush, an iron rod, and an electric heater.
Forensic teams suspect the murder was carried out inside the house, after which the body was cut into pieces and dumped at different locations. Police are continuing efforts to recover Rahul’s missing head and other body parts. Investigators believe that the crime was carefully planned and have drawn parallels with a recent murder case in Meerut. The occurrence of such cases has intensified public concern and outrage.
