A shocking incident took place in Sangli, where Sambhaji Bhide Guruji, the founder of Shiv Pratishthan, was attacked by a group of dogs. According to reports, Bhide sustained injuries in the attack. The incident is said to have occurred in Mali Galli, Sangli city, around 11 PM. At the time, Bhide Guruji was on his way home after attending a dinner program at a Dharkara’s residence when the dogs suddenly attacked him. One of the dogs bit him on the leg.
After this incident, Sambhaji Bhide Guruji was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged. The dog attack triggered a wave of panic among the residents.
Who Is Sambhaji Bhide?
Sambhaji Bhide is a Hindutva activist from Maharashtra’s Sangli. He was a former full-time member of the Hindu nationalist organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He later parted ways in the 1980s to establish his group- Shiv Pratishthan Hindustan.
The organisation claims to promote the teachings of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his son, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Bhide enjoys a significant following in regions such as Sangli, Kolhapur, Pune, Belgaum, Mumbai, and Satara.
According to 2018 media reports highlighted his close ties with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He recently challenged former MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati’s assertion that there is no historical evidence supporting the presence of a dog with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He opposed the proposal to remove the canine statue from Raigad Fort, citing a popular anecdote that the dog, known as ‘Waghya,’ leapt into Shivaji Maharaj’s funeral pyre.
