Azam Khan, a Samajwadi party leader, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by a Rampur MP/MLA court. Additionally, the contractor Barkat Ali has been sentenced to 7 years in prison.
The case involves a 2016 property dispute in the Dungarpur area of Rae Bareilly district, Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, the court acquitted three other accused – Jibran, Farman, and Omendra Chauhan.
In 2019, a Samajwadi Party leader and six others were booked for the forced demolition of a house in 2016, during the SP’s tenure in power in Uttar Pradesh. The case was registered at Ganj police station in Rampur, according to senior prosecution officer Amarnath Tiwari.

In the judgment delivered by the Rampur MP/MLA court in March, aside from Azam Khan, Aale Hasan, Azhar Ahmad Khan, and Barkat Ali were also given prison sentences. The four convicts reportedly received five years of imprisonment and were sentenced under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sections 427, 504, 506, 447, and 120B.
