At the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, indirectly criticized Pakistan, saying that if cross-border activities involve extremism and separatism, they will harm trade and relations between countries.
He emphasized that peace and stability are essential for growth, and when terrorism, extremism, and separatism are present, they stop trade, energy cooperation, and cultural exchanges from happening.
Importance of Fighting Terrorism and Building Cooperation
Jaishankar stressed that fighting terrorism, separatism, and extremism is the SCO’s main goal and is more important than ever today. He encouraged open discussions, trust, and good relations between neighboring countries, reminding everyone of their commitment to the SCO Charter.
Promoting True Partnerships Based on Mutual Respect
Speaking at the SCO meeting, Jaishankar highlighted the need for cooperation based on mutual respect, equality, and respecting each country’s borders. He said cooperation should be based on genuine partnerships, not selective global practices, especially in trade and transit.
