The sudden demise of Epigamia co-founder Rohan Mirchandani at the age of 41 has sent shockwaves across the world, particularly within the business community. Rohan died of cardiac arrest at just 41 on December 21. Tributes have been pouring in for Rohan, with several investors and entrepreneurs expressing condolences and sharing moments with him.
Manu Chandra, Founder and Managing Partner of Sauce VC and an early backer of Epigamia, penned a heartfelt note on social media about Rohan.
Rohan – A Perfect Son, Father, Husband, And Friend
In his post, Manu referred Rohan as a visionary leader and mentor to many young founders in India. He said that while people knew him in the capacity of a visionary leader, Manu had the privilege of knowing him as the perfect son, father, husband, brother, and friend.
He wrote, “Rohan… Many of you know him as the founder of the much loved epigamia, a visionary leader and mentor to many young founders in India. I had the privilege of also knowing him as the perfect son, father, husband, brother and friend.”
Lived Every Moment
Manu added that Rohan lived a short life, but he lived every moment of it and achieved what multiple lifespans may not. He praised him for touching lives of thousands across India and the US and helping everyone he could. Rohan was so large hearted that he could never say no, mentioned Manu.
Committed To Action
He further said that Rohan never boasted about his work or the impact he made. He believed in action, not in blowing his own trumpet.
Manu wrote, “My inbox today is full of messages of people saying how much he encouraged them to chase their dreams, seeing in people very often what they could not for themselves. Very few are also aware that this generosity and kindness underpinned a lot of wonderful philanthropic work he did with multiple charities, because Rohan always committed to action and spoke little of the impact he created.”
Rohan’s Contribution To Sauce.vc.
Furthermore, in his post, Manu highlighted Rohan’s contributions to the venture capital institution Sauce.vc. He said that Rohan was the driving force behind starting Sauce.vc and added that they would not be where they are today had he not met Rohan.
He detailed how he met Rohan. Manu said, “The journey started with Hokey Pokey and later Epigamia and I was lucky to be an early investor, and I was privileged to have his family as Sauce’s first backer. I am yet to meet a founder who has sacrificed so much personally, straddling two lives across two continents to build a great business. His integrity, empathy for founders and passion for building will continue to be the guiding tenets of our work.”
Personal Loss
He ended his post by calling Rohan’s demise as his personal loss. He wrote, “At a personal level, my family and I have lost a partner, a friend and a brother.”
He added that Rohan definitely changed everyone’s lives for the better and it will not be the same without him.
