Satish Kumar had lost the elections in 2020 and 2015 against Tejashwi Yadav.
In 2005, Satish Kumar switched to Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) and contested the elections from Raghopur. However, he was defeated by Rabri Devi by a margin of over 25,000 votes. Five years later, in 2010, Kumar made a strong comeback by defeating her with a vote margin of 13,000 while contesting on a JD(U) ticket.
