New Delhi: ‘Jhelum me lehrayenge Tiranga’ campaign was run in the villages of Sopore in Kashmir. Locals from several villages of the North Kashmir’s Sopore area took out the campaign.
The campaign also sought active participation from school students. This campaign was being taken out as a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. This procession was taken out to encourage more people to hoist the National Flag in their homes. This also marks the 75th year of India’s Independence.
The unique nature of the boat rally was that the campaign was led by many fishermen. The rally was taken out from Ningli Bala to Ningli Ghat. One of the fishermen said that Jhelum is our home and that’s why we are celebrating the Tiranga campaign in Jhelum river.
Around 25 boats moved from Ningli ghat towards Chankan bridge. All the people held National Flag in their hands. They turned Jhelum into a Tricolour river. Meanwhile students waved the National Flag. They also welcomed the fishermen at Hatishah bridge.
