Rishikesh: 100 Devotees Stranded In Ganga River Rescued By Police – What Went Wrong? | WATCH Video

As per Muni Ki Reti Police Station, around 100 devotees from Haryana reached the ghat to take a holy dip in the Ganga on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.

Around 100 devotees from Haryana got stuck on an island in Rishikesh due to the rising waters of the Ganga. Finding themselves at risk, they started shouting for help. Upon hearing their cries, water police personnel near Janaki Ghat rescued the stranded devotees, as reported by NDTV.

As per Muni Ki Reti Police Station, around 100 devotees from Haryana reached the ghat to take a holy dip in the Ganga on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri. Finding the water level of the Ganga low, the devotees moved to the island to bathe.

However, after some time, the water level of the Ganga rose, causing the devotees to get stuck on the island.

According to Muni Ki Reti Police Station Inspector Pradeep Chauhan, water police personnel Rajendra Singh, Ravi Rana, Videsh Chauhan, Pushkar Rawat, and Mahendra Chaudhary were on duty at that time and went to save the lives of the devotees. The water police personnel risked their lives and saved the devotees.

After this the devotees expressed their gratitude towards the water police personnel who saved their lives.

The devotees entered the region when the water level was low, but due to the release of water from the Tehri Dam, the water level rose, leaving them stranded on the island.
