In India, all driving licenses are issued with a limited validity period. A grace period of 30 days is available after the expiration of a driving license. Temporary driving licenses remain eligible for renewal only within this 30-day window. If you apply for renewal after this period, you will incur a penalty. The standard renewal fee for timely applications is Rs 400, but it can increase to as much as Rs ,500 if the renewal is delayed beyond one month after expiration, as reported by ABP News.
The validity of a private driving license is up to 20 years from the date of issuance unless the holder reaches the age of 40 first. Upon reaching 40, individuals will receive a driving license valid for ten years, followed by a five-year extension. If a driving license is not renewed within one year of its expiration, it becomes invalid, requiring the applicant to restart the entire process to obtain a new license.
To renew a driving license, visit the Transport Department’s official website. The portal offers two application methods, from which you should select “Online.”
Choose “Driving License Related Services” and select your state. Follow the instructions to proceed to the “Select Service on Driving License” page.
After this one need to fill the application form. After this you have to fill date of birth, license number and other details.
Next step is clicking on the renewal option. After this you have to upload you image and signature. And at the end you have to do the payment.
