An overground worker (OGW) has been apprehended for providing logistical support to terrorists involved in attacking a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir. The arrest of the worker took place in Rajouri.
On June 9, terrorists attacked a bus carrying pilgrims to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, resulting in nine fatalities and injuring 41 others. The bus careened into a deep gorge following the gunfire.
Most of the pilgrims hailed from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi.
Approximately 50 individuals have been detained in relation to the investigation into the attack. The Union Home Ministry has transferred the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Previously, the Jammu and Kashmir police released a sketch of a suspect and offered a reward of Rs 20 lakh for information leading to the apprehension of those involved.
On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a high-level meeting in Delhi to discuss the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir following recent terror attacks. He also reviewed preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
In response to the recent surge in terror attacks in the Jammu division, Shah instructed security agencies to replicate the successful “area domination plan” and “zero terror plan” implemented in the Kashmir valley.
