Ratan Tata’s sprawling Colaba residence: why it’s special and who lives there now

Ratan Tata's Colaba bungalow replicates his ideas, named Bakhtawar and Cabins. Ratan considered this as his retirement home

Seldom does the destiny of a person echo so vividly in their name. Ratan, a gem whose unavailability does not go amiss whenever the great business leaders of the nation are accounted for, lived an inspiring life that remains a guiding light for many. An erudite in structural architecture from the premier institute of Cornell, a leader under whom the Tata moniker grew by leaps and bounds, stood unaware of his eminence, often carrying himself in a modest manner.

How Much Is the House Worth?

His residence spans across 13,350 square feet and is estimated to be worth approximately Rs 150 crore, as per a report by Jagran. The minimalist style of his mansion has grand entrances and three stories that follow the same design philosophy.

The grand mansion has enough space for 15 cars to be parked, has a gym, and a house pool on the top floor. The mansion has high-rise ceilings that ensure ample natural light in every corner of the room.

Pooja Room and Garden

An element that stands out in the whole mansion would be the worship room. Surrounded by lush green gardens on all sides, the house also has large trees and grass beds all along its space. Since Ratan Tata was a big animal lover, he must have made sure that his mansion had enough space for his dogs to play along. These small quirks that replicate his insights and vision make this residence special.

Who Lives in the House Now?

As per media reports, no one lives in the house now, but there have also been reports about Noel Tata moving into the residence.
