Mourning and Tribute by the State
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde praised Tata as a “unique blend of morality and entrepreneurship,” announcing a state-wide day of mourning on Thursday. The tricolour at government offices was flown at half-mast, and all entertainment events were cancelled.

Public Farewell and Final Rites
The public was given the opportunity to pay their respects to Ratan Tata at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai. His body was later taken to the Worli crematorium for the final rites. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and prominent figures like Piyush Goyal, the Ambanis, and other top businessmen were in attendance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences, describing Tata as a visionary business leader with a passion for dreaming big and giving back to society. Chief Minister Shinde also lauded Tata’s leadership of the Tata Group, acknowledging his role in elevating the 150-year-old conglomerate to new heights.
