Ratan Tata’s Funeral Draws Hundreds, Cremated With Full State Honors

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences, describing Tata as a visionary business leader with a passion for dreaming big and giving back to society

Ratan Tata, a legendary figure in both industry and philanthropy, passed away on Wednesday and was honored with a state funeral by the Maharashtra government. His last rites were performed according to Parsi traditions at an electric crematorium.

Mourning and Tribute by the State

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde praised Tata as a “unique blend of morality and entrepreneurship,” announcing a state-wide day of mourning on Thursday. The tricolour at government offices was flown at half-mast, and all entertainment events were cancelled.

Public Farewell and Final Rites

The public was given the opportunity to pay their respects to Ratan Tata at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and prominent figures like Piyush Goyal, the Ambanis, and other top businessmen were in attendance.
