In a historic first, Rashtrapati Bhavan is all set to host a wedding ceremony on February 12, 2025. RPF Assistant Commandant Poonam Gupta will marry fellow Assistant Commandant Avnish Kumar at the Mother Teresa Crown Complex within the presidential residence, this unsual event has been personally approved by President Droupadi Murmu, who was highly impressed by Gupta’s dedication and hardwork in service.
Poonam Gupta is from Shivpuri, a city in Madhya Pradesh and she’s currently serving as a Personal Security Officer (PSO) at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Poonam’s fiancé, Avnish Kumar, is posted in Jammu and Kashmir. The ceremony is expected to be an intimate affair and only close family and friends will be invited and all of them will undergo security screening due to the venue’s significance
This event marks the first time wedding in the history of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The decision is due to the President’s appreciation for the outstanding behavior of officers serving at the presidential residence. The upcoming ceremony not only celebrates the union of two dedicated officers but also highlights the evolving traditions of India’s highest office, showing a mix of personal celebrations and national importance.
