The report cited that the incident happened after a clash erupted between two groups of students over a relationship involving two young men and a female student. The politician’s grandson, Chandru, who was a student himself, was allegedly asked to mediate the dispute, police said.

In an apparent act of intimidation, the group in the Range Rover tried to confront the other group, who fled on two bikes. The intended target, Venkatesan, and his friend managed to elude the SUV. However, the Range Rover struck the second bike, carrying Nithin Sai and his friend Abhishek. Nithin, who was riding pillion, succumbed to severe head injuries on the spot, while Abhishek sustained injuries.
