Actor Sunil Lahiri, known for his role as Lakshman in Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayan’, expressed his disappointment with the Lok Sabha election 2024 results, as the BJP did not secure a majority.
In a video message to his followers, he questioned whether the BJP’s coalition with its NDA partners could govern effectively for a full term. “I am very disappointed with the election 2024 results. Firstly, the voter turnout was very low, and then this outcome. I urged people to vote, but it seems my appeals were ignored. Now, a coalition government will be formed, but can it function smoothly for the next five years? That’s a concern,” he said in a video posted on Instagram.

In a series of posts, the actor also criticized the voters of Ayodhya, in the Faizabad constituency, where Samajwadi Party’s Akshaya Yadav won by over 89,000 votes, defeating BJP candidate Vishwadeep Singh.
“Residents of Ayodhya seem to have forgotten that they once questioned Sita’s virtue after her return from exile. Even if God himself appeared before them, they would reject him. Ayodhya has always betrayed its rightful king,” one of the posts read.

At last the actor expressed satisfaction that two of his favorite candidates had secured a majority in their constituencies.
“Firstly, Kangana Ranaut, a symbol of women empowerment, has won the Mandi seat. Secondly, my elder brother, Arun Govil, has secured victory in Meerut. I congratulate both of them,” he said.
