As Ram Navami processions are being organized by multiple organizations in West Bengal, the state police are on high alert to avoid any potential communal discord prior to the Lok Sabha elections. A senior police figure emphasized that no display of weapons would be tolerated during the processions, warning of strict repercussions for those who violate regulations or attempt to disturb public peace.
A senior police official stated that no public display of weapons would be permitted during the processions. Some traditional groups and akharas have been granted permission to hold processions, with each procession being videographed. The official also warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found breaking rules or attempting to disrupt law and order
Areas on high alert
Areas such as Hooghly, Howrah, Uttar and Dakshin Dinajpur, Asansol, and Barrackpore, which have seen communal tensions during previous Ram Navami events, are now on high alert as per district administrations. Furthermore, with the anticipation of political leaders joining the processions and possibly organizing rallies on Ram Navami, vigilance measures have been intensified in these regions.

Hindu Jagaran Manch Processions
The Hindu Jagaran Manch, associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has disclosed plans for 5,000 religious processions across different tiers, spanning districts, wards, and panchayats. Noteworthy processions are expected in areas like Barasat, Siliguri, and Kolkata’s Ram Mandir in Burrabazar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of scheming to disrupt the celebrations, whereas Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has alleged that the BJP is orchestrating plans to incite riots in the state ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
