Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh met President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on July 22. The meeting was informed by Rashtrapati Bhavan through a post on Twitter, which said, “Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Shri Harivansh met President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.”
This meeting has taken place at a time when just a day before, Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar had submitted his resignation to the President citing health reasons. He had submitted this resignation on the evening of the first day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, which was accepted by the President today.
Dhankhar’s resignation and his sudden resignation surprised many, because on the same day, while presiding over the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha, he had revealed that he had received a letter from some opposition MPs regarding the impeachment motion against Justice Yashwant Verma in the ‘cash at home’ case.
