In a significant development, the Rajasthan High Court on Thursday scrapped the Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment exam held in 2021 amid a collusion probe. The decision follows years of appeals and protests by students who alleged cheating in the recruitment process. The court had previously halted the passing-out parade and trainee sub-inspectors’ appointment.
The Sub-Inspector (SI) Recruitment Examination aimed to fill a total of 859 posts. Investigation by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan revealed the use of dummy candidates and cheating. According to reports, over 150 people were arrested in connection with the case.
On the decision, Petitioner Harendar Neel told ANI, “The court said that the paper was leaked on WhatsApp, social media, and even the Bluetooth gang was involved in it. The Court said that it would be unfortunate if the recruitment continued.” He further called it a historic verdict.
Advocate OP Solanki also described the verdict as historic. He said, “The people of the state have come to understand what constitutes a good verdict and what justice is. The decision came after 4 years, but it is a very good decision. We are all very happy.”
