Kota: In a tragic incident, a NEET aspirant died by suicide in Kota district of Rajasthan. The case came to light on Sunday and has been reported from Mahavir Nagar police station area. She was found hanging in her hostel room. The deceased identified as Zeeshan, was originally a resident of Jammu and Kashmir. She was a coaching student and was preparing for NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) exam while living in Kota. This is the 16th case of coaching students’ suicide in Kota this year.
It is reported that she took her life while she was on a call with her boyfriend. The local police were informed who rushed to the scene. The body has been sent to the hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
Further investigation is underway to determine the sequence of events and ascertain the cause of her extreme step.
The incident has again highlighted the intense academic pressure and mental health challenges faced by coaching students in Kota. The city is infamous for its high number of student suicides.
Earlier on May 4, a NEET aspirant ended her life by hanging herself from an iron grille in Kota, only a few hours before the national medical entrance exam. Circle inspector at the Kunhadi police station, Arvind Bhardwaj, said the girl was a minor and the student was from Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh.
Till April 29, 2025, a total of 14 students had died by suicide in Kota this year.
