Rajasthan Man Sentenced To Death For Acid Attack On Wife Over Her Dark Complexion

A man in Rajasthan was sentenced to death after pouring acid on his wife due to her dark complexion.

He would assault her with “dark complexion” and her weight. And would repeatedly physically fight her over the same issue again and again. The woman was Laxmi and her husband Kishan would often mock his wife Laxmi over her dark complexion.

On one night the man told his wife he had brought medicine for her and had rubbed it all over her body. The wife made complaints about an acidic smell.

The man did not believe her when she complained that it smelled acidic, so when he lit an incense stick on her stomach. This consequently was when the body caught on fire. While the woman was burning alive, he poured the remaining medicine on the woman which resulted in her dying.

A case was registered against accused Kishan at the Vallabhnagar police station in Udaipur and he was produced to Additional District Judge Court.

According to public prosecutor Dinesh Paliwal, the accused used to taunt the victim for dark complexion and because of which, he poured acid on the victim’s body and set her ablaze. The woman died due to serious burns.

While giving the judgement, the judge explained that such instances are happening in recent times and in order to keep alive society’s fear of courts, the accused will receive the death penalty.
