Rajasthan:  14 miners who were feared trapped in a copper mine in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district following a lift malfunction have been rescued safely. They were provided with oxygen and other essential items during the rescue operation.

As reported by India Today, the incident occurred when a lift used to transport miners to and from the mine’s depths suddenly failed. The malfunction left workers stranded approximately 500 meters below the surface.

State disaster response teams and local authorities were dispatched to the site. “Our immediate priority is to ensure the safety and rescue of the trapped miners,” said a spokesperson for the mining company. “We are working closely with rescue teams to expedite the operation.”

Family members of the trapped miners had gathered at the site, anxiously awaiting news of their loved ones. The exact cause of the lift malfunction was still under investigation. Initial inspections suggested a possible mechanical failure, but authorities had not ruled out other factors.

Rajasthan CM expressed concern and assured that all necessary resources were being mobilized for the rescue operation. “We are monitoring the situation closely and will provide all support needed to bring our miners to safety,” he stated in a press release.

This incident underscored the ongoing challenges and risks faced by miners, prompting calls for stringent safety measures and regular maintenance checks to prevent such occurrences in the future.
