Rainwater Deluge In Delhi: Traffic Stalled, Metro Shutdown Adds To Woes

Today, heavy rains caused widespread flooding in Delhi, affecting roads and even the airport. The Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory to ensure people's safety during this situation.

Delhi Monsoon Havoc: Flooded Roads, Closed Metro Stations

Attention passengers! Be cautious while driving in Delhi today. Roads, metro stations, and the airport are all closed due to heavy rains. Flooding has affected the roads, railway station, metro station, and airport, with 2 to 3 feet of water on the streets. Some roads resemble ponds, while others look like rivers. Heavy rains and strong winds caused an accident at Delhi airport today, resulting in one death.

The car became trapped under debris when the roof of Terminal-1 collapsed. The person in the driver’s seat died from the car being crushed. Terminal-1 shut down following the accident, leading to cancellations of flights departing from there. The shuttle service from Delhi Aerocity Metro Station to Terminal-1 has been halted. Additionally, Delhi Police issued an advisory warning about blocked metro stations and roads, advising people to stay vigilant.

Heavy rains have caused flooding at Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector-25 metro station, leading to the closure of entry-exit gates. The flyover near AIIMS is submerged, resulting in the closure of both carriageways. Waterlogging in the underpass at Azad Market has blocked the road. Both lanes on Veer Banda Bairagi Road are impassable. The road from Akshardham to Ghaziabad and Murga Mandi at Ghazipur Border are also flooded.

Delhi Roads Are Flooded With Water 

The Okhla underpass is flooded, causing traffic blockage on the road from Kalindi Kunj to Crown Plaza. The route from ITO to Mandi House has been shut down. Tilak Bridge W-Point Road is submerged in rainwater. A fallen tree has obstructed the road near Jwala Heri Market. Mehram Nagar underpass is also flooded. Mathura Road is inundated with water. Traffic is halted due to a fallen tree on the road from Ashram to Badarpur, so it’s advisable to avoid these routes.

Anuvrat Road is flooded with rainwater, causing closure of the road leading to 100 Foota, Lado Sarai Red Light. Water has also accumulated on the road near Y-Point Salimgarh and Nigambodh Ghat. The ring road from Shantivan to ISBT is impassable. Both carriageways from Rajdhani Park to Mundka are blocked due to waterlogging. Rainwater has accumulated under the Dhaula Kuan flyover, leading to closure of the ring road from Narayana to Moti Bagh.
