An unexpected spell of rain on Thursday led to the cancellation of several high-profile events, it also led to the cancellation of Prime Minister Modi and Sonia Gandhi’s planned visit to different venues for the Dussehra festival. The highly anticipated programme, where PM Modi was supposed to attend as the chief guest, was canceled due to the continuous rain.
Sonia Gnadhi was scheduled to visit the Raavan Dahan programme at the Shri Dharmik Leela Committee at the Parade ground near Redfot, but the program was canceled as the showers lashed the city.
In Pitampura, where Union Minister Amit Shah was scheduled to join Vijayadashmi celebrations, visuals showcased soggy ground,s and attendees were seen carrying umbrellas under the rain.
IMD’s prediction
IMD has predicted moderate to intense showers across Delhi through the evening. The regional Meteorological department across Delhi, throughout the evening, the regional Meteorological centre issues both orange and Yellow alerts for various parts of the city, before this, only a yellow alert has been raised.
The City’s maximum temperature was recorded at 35.7 degrees clecious, a notch above normal, while the minimum stelled at 25.8 degrees, 2.5 notches below the average.
