The advisory said, “Due to bad weather and thunderstorms in Delhi, flight services might be affected at Delhi Airport. Our ground staff is working closely with all teams to make sure passengers have a smooth experience. Travellers are advised to contact their airline for the latest flight information.”

Although the weather pattern shifted, both summer heat and high humidity persisted. The “feels like” temperature in Delhi struck 50.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The highest actual temperature was 40.7 degrees Celsius, which is 0.5 degrees above average, weather department representatives said. The range of relative humidity experienced during this day was between 34% and 64%.

The heat index (or “feels like” temperature) explains how hot it feels when humidity is factored into the actual temperature; it is determined using temperature and humidity, said the India Meteorological Department. Overall, the abrupt weather change lowered the temperature and momentarily relieved those who felt drained from heavy, oppressive heat.
