New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is vacating his government-alloted residence at 12 Tughlaq Lane in the national capital on Friday, abiding by the notice served to him regarding giving up the place.
As per the notice, Gandhi was required to empty the place by 22 April. The Congress leader had recieved the notice after being dispelled from the Parliament.
The residence was alloted to him as a Parliamentarian, but after being disqualified, he was obligated to leave the official residence.

The disqualification was attacted after Gandhi got convicted of a 2019 defamation case. A Sessions court in Surat of Gujarat found him guilty in the “Modi Surname” defamation case. As a punishment, Gandhi was sentenced to two-years of jail but was given bail later.

The Congres leader was given a notice a day after being convicted for his derogatory remarks made in a public rally in Karnataka’s Kollar. Gandhi was living in the residence since 2014. Gandhi has been asked to vacate the place by April 22.
