Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming visit to Germany has sparked a fresh political storm, with the BJP leaders targeting him for flying abroad amid the ongoing winter session in the Parliament. Gandhi will reportedly be traveling to Berlin to attend an Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) event on December 17.
BJP mocks Rahul Gandhi, calls him ‘leader of…’
Rahul Gandhi’s visit has drawn severe criticism from the NDA leaders, who accused him of neglecting his responsibilities and flying to Germany. BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla on Wednesday mocked the Congress MP, calling him the leader of ‘Paryatan’.
In a post shared on X, Poonawala said, “Once again Videsh Nayak is doing what he does best! Going for a foreign tour! Parliament is on till 19th Dec, but Reports suggest Rahul Gandhi to visit Germany from Dec 15-20! Rahul is LoP – leader of paryatan. During Bihar elections too he was abroad & then in Jungle Safari,” adding that Gandhi had also been away during the Bihar assembly elections.
Why is the Congress MP flying to Berlin?
On Rahul Gandhi’s Berlin visit, the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) said that it is a significant outreach initiative to strengthen the party’s global engagement. Rahul Gandhi is set to address the Indian diaspora in Germany on December 17, an event where the Presidents of IOC chapters across Europe will meet to discuss NRI issues and strategies to expand the Congress party’s ideological reach.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday reiterated his accusations of “vote chori”, accusing the Election Commission of colluding with the Bharatiya Janata Party to “shape elections”. The BJP leaders, in return, alleged that the Congress has subverted India’s institutions through constitutional amendments during its regime.
