New Delhi: Former Congress leader Hardik Patel took a dig at the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ saying that the party’s ex chief Rahul Gandhi rather needs to do ‘Congress Jodo’ campaign.

“Congress should first do Congress Jodo instead of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The question is whether Rahul Gandhi will come after the elections or before the elections. The people of Gujarat do not want to entertain Congress,” said Patel.

The Patidar leader was named working president of the Gujarat Congress Committee and was given primary membership in the Congress Party. He alleged that “all I and my community faced was ridicule and contempt” whenever Patel tried to do something for Gujaratis.

Patidar leader Hardik Patel joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the month of June. In the upcoming Gujarat elections, the saffron party has fielded Patel from Viramgam constituency.

At present, Congress leader Lakhabhai Bharwad is the MLA from Viramgam seat.

Patel on Friday exuded confidence that the saffron party will return to power in state after winning the 2022 Gujarat Assembly election with great majority.

The BJP leader said, “We will ensure our victory. (BJP) government is going to be formed with a majority, with more than 150 seats. We are here to give our contribution to this.”

I’ll work to shoulder the responsibility given to me by BJP. My effort will be to win from Viramgam by taking everyone together. I’m confident that people of Viramgam will make the BJP candidate win,” he added.
