Rahul Gandhi in London: In an interview at the Chatham House in London, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) a “fundamentalist” and “fascist” organisation that has taken nearly all of India’s institutions.
“The nature of democratic contest in India has completely changed and the reason is that one organisation called RSS-a fundamentalist, fascist organisation has basically captured pretty much all of India’s institutions,” Rahul said.
He stated, “You can see what is done to Dalits, tribals, and minorities in India. It is not something that Congress is saying. There are constant reports in the international press that there is a significant problem with Indian democracy.”

The Congress leader also emphasised how the country’s various institutions were under attack.
“It astounded me how successful they have been in seizing our country’s various institutions. The press, judiciary, parliament, and election commission are all under threat and are all controlled in some way “According to Rahul Gandhi.
“Ask any Opposition leader how agencies are utilised. “My phone had Pegasus on it, which was not the case when we were in power,” he explained.
Importantly, during a lecture at Cambridge University, the Congress leader launched a scathing attack on the Government, alleging that an attack on the basic framework of Indian democracy had been unleashed, while also claiming that Israeli spyware Pegasus was being used to snoop on his phone.
Rahul stated that intelligence personnel had told him to be “careful” while conversing on the phone since his calls were being recorded.
“I, too, had Pegasus on my phone. Many lawmakers have Pegasus installed on their phones. I have been phoned by intelligence officials who advised me, ‘Please be careful about what you are saying on the phone because we are sort of recording the material’. So this is the constant pressure we are under. Cases involving the opposition. I have a number of criminal liability cases for things that should never be criminal liability cases. It is what we are attempting to defend “In his speech, the Congress leader stated.
