Congress MP Rajeev Shukla on Tuesday informed that Lok Sabha LoP and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, along with a delegation, has left for Sambhal. Rahul’s visit comes after stone pelting incident was reported from Sambhal on November 24. The violence had erupted when a team had arrived to survey Shahi Jama Masjid.
Speaking to ANI, Shukla said, “Rahul Gandhi and a delegation of the Congress party have left for Sambhal. He has directly left from the Parliament.”

Rahul Gandhi Slams UP Government
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had slammed Uttar Pradesh government over violence in Sambhal. He had called the incident as ‘unfortunate’ and expressed his condolences to grieving families.
Rahul wrote on X, “The biased and hasty attitude of the state government on the recent dispute in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh is extremely unfortunate. My deepest condolences to those who lost their loved ones in the violence and firing.”
He further accused the government and said that the BJP is directly responsible for the situation that got escalated. “The administration’s insensitive action without listening to all parties further vitiated the situation and resulted in the death of many people – for which the BJP government is directly responsible,” he added.
“BJP’s use of power to create rift and discrimination between Hindu-Muslim communities is neither in the interest of the state nor the country. I request the Supreme Court to intervene in this matter as soon as possible and provide justice,” he posted on X.
At the end of his post, he appealed to people to maintain peace and harmony. Rahul wrote, “My appeal is to maintain peace and mutual harmony. We all have to join together to ensure that India moves forward on the path of unity and constitution, not communalism and hatred.”

Earlier today, markets in Sambhal were opened after violence following the stone pelting incident took place on November 24. Deputy Inspector General of Police Moradabad Range, Muniraj G said that the situation is normal in Sambhal today.
Internet services were suspended and schools shut in Sambhal on Monday as a precautionary measure following the violent clash that erupted in the district.
Reportedly, stone-pelting incident occurred when a team arrived at the Shahi Jama Masjid to conduct a fresh survey of the mosque. Locals allegedly pelted stones at security personnel and attacked the police force. As a precaution, the police used anti-riot measures, including tear gas, to disperse the crowd.
