Punjab Budget 2023-23: Punjab finance Minister Harpal Cheema on Friday presented the first full budget worth 1.96-lakh-crore to the Bhagwant Mann government after it came into power in March 2022.
Presenting the budget for the financial year 2023-24, Cheema said education, health, and agriculture are top priority sectors for the government.
The finance minister said the total budget allocation has been expanded by 26 per cent to Rs 1,96,462 crore for FY 2023-24 as compared to the previous year.
It is the first full budget of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government after they came to power in March 2022.

Here are some Key allocations of budget
- Punjab finance minister announced Rs 13,888 crore for agriculture and sector related to agriculture.
- FM announced 1,000 for crop diversification, and he announced setting up a revolving fund for Basmati crop purchase.
- Rs 9,331 crore has been allocated for a free power subsidy.
- Finance Minister Cheema allocated Rs 11,782 crore for effective capital expenditure.
- Punjab government allocated Rs 125 crore for the sowing of paddy and purchasing of moong crops.
