Pune: A juvenile court granted bail to a 17-year-old who was driving a Porsche sports car involved in a fatal accident in Pune. The crash, which occurred early Sunday morning in Koregaon Park, resulted in the deaths of a couple riding a two-wheeler. The bail comes with specific conditions.

Although the specifics of the bail hearing were not disclosed, police officials indicated that the court deemed the crime insufficiently “serious” to deny bail. The court’s order, issued within 14 hours of the minor’s detention, included several conditions for his release:

– Working alongside traffic police for 15 days.
– Undergoing psychiatric evaluation and treatment.
– Writing an essay on the incident.
– Assisting accident victims in the future if he witnesses an accident.

The teenager, the son of a well-known builder, reportedly crashed the Porsche he was driving into a motorbike carrying Anis Dudhiya and Ashwini Costa, who were residents of Rajasthan. According to the police FIR, Costa died instantly, while Dudhiya succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

A video surfaced online showing the teenager being beaten by a crowd at the scene of the accident.

The Yerawada police station has registered a case against the driver under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act, including charges of rash driving and causing death by negligence.
