Pune Teen Allegedly Offered Pizza At Police Station Following Porsche Crash, Sparking Shock

Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, called for the removal of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, claiming that the teenager was provided with pizza and a burger at the police station following his detention.

Pune

Amid outrage over the bail granted to a 17-year-old boy just 14 hours after his detention for running over two techies with his speeding Porsche in Pune, many opposition leaders have alleged that the teenager was served pizza, burger, and biryani at the police station after his detention.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut demanded the dismissal of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, alleging that the teenager was served pizza and a burger at the police station after his detention. Raut also accused an MLA from Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s NCP faction of being present at the police station and assisting the 17-year-old.

Sanjay Raut questioned; why he was being served pizza?

Sanjay Raut criticized the Pune Police for aiding a wealthy boy responsible for the deaths of two young people, questioning why he was being served pizza and a burger. Raut pointed out that a video has surfaced showing the boy consuming alcohol and claimed that despite being aware of the facts, the police still helped him.

The Sena (UBT) leader questioned who could be aiding the accused teenager. Reiterating his demand for the suspension of Pune Police Commissioner, Raut warned that failure to do so would force the people of Pune to take to the streets.

Sanjay Raut told news agency ANI that the Police Commissioner should be suspended for attempting to shield the accused. He highlighted that a young couple was killed, yet the accused was granted bail within 2 hours. Raut pointed out that despite evidence from a video showing the accused intoxicated, his medical report turned out negative. He questioned who was aiding the accused and called for the removal of the Police Commissioner, warning that failure to do so would prompt the people of Pune to take to the streets.

In response to the allegations, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated that if any officer was found to have assisted the accused, strict action would be taken. Kumar mentioned that their investigation has not uncovered any evidence of the accused being served pizza or receiving preferential treatment.

Allegations do not reveal any facts

“The allegations have not revealed any facts. The police have maintained strictness since the incident was brought to light. If any police officer has assisted the accused in any manner, we will take action after conducting an investigation,” stated the top cop.

Maharashtra Congress MLA Ravindra Dhangekar leveled similar accusations, attributing the “compromised law and order” to the Yerwada Police Station where the teenager and other occupants of the sports car were transported after their detention.

Dhangekar’s tweet, roughly translated from Marathi, accused the Yerawada police station of compromising law and order, alleging that they facilitated the child’s bail by applying minor clauses. He claimed that the boy, who allegedly caused the death of two individuals for financial gain, was brought to the police station and served biryani and pizza.

He compared the case to actor Salman Khan’s hit-and-run incident, stating that initially, the teenager created drama by denying that he had driven the sports car.

The court granted bail to the accused teenager under various conditions, one of which included writing a 300-word essay on the “impact of road accidents and potential solutions”. However, Pune Police Commissioner informed India Today TV on Monday that they advocated for the teenager to be tried as an adult and had filed an appeal in a higher court against his bail.

Kumar informed India Today TV that they would spare no effort to demonstrate that this is a heinous crime.

Pune teens father was arrested this morning

Earlier in the day, the teenager’s father, who was on the run and in whose name the Porsche was registered, was apprehended in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad. Additionally, authorities arrested the owners of two bars visited by the 17-year-old and his friends before the crash.

Three individuals were inside the Porsche during the fatal collision, with the teenager, the son of a prominent real estate builder, operating the vehicle. The minor was intoxicated, and online CCTV footage emerged depicting him and his friends sitting in a bar and consuming alcohol before the incident.

The families of the victims, Aneesh Awadhiya and his partner Ashwini Koshta, both 24, criticized Maharashtra Police for their lack of action.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
