Good news for commuters in Pune. Pune Metro is expanding in a good pace. This expansion will make travel easier for commuters and ease traffic congestion. Two of the metro corridors, Pimpri to Swargate and Vanaz to Ramwadi are ready to get on the track, with more than 1.25 lakh people travelling using the metro in the city on daily basis, as reported by Pune News.
This project will provide relief to commuters travelling using metro in Pune. They will provide an alternative option to people travelling by road and make travel comfortable for commuters in the city.
Maharashtra Minister, Chandrakant Patil confirmed that the newly developed corridors will improve the connectivity in Pune.
Benefits From The Project
The new corridors in Pune will ease traffic congestion and will benefit the commuters in Pune. This will also reduce the traffic jam in streets. This will provide better accessibility of transportation to people living there.
This will also benefit the environment and help in reducing air pollution. The route will connect IT hub in city making travel easier for IT Professionals.
The new corridor will save time of commuters and offers a simple route to them.
Maharashtra Metro has already shown result in easing the traffic congestion in some of the routes. Currently the work on new corridors is underway. The two corridors are Swargate to Khadakwasla and Swargate-Hadapsar-Kharadi.
Currently Pune has 32-km long metro route, which includes 5-km underground metro from Shivajinagar to Swargate.
There are several metro projects which are under construction.
Pimpri to Nigdi: The willmake metro reach till the northern area of Pune.
Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar: This will connect the IT hub of Hinjewadi making the travel for people moving there for Job easier.
Apart for this Vanaz to Chandni Chowk, Nal Stopr to Warje and Hinjewadi to Chandni Chowk route are under consideration.
