Anticipating huge footfall at Pune Metro, officials decided to expand the metro service during a meeting that was held between Pune Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar and Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale. The Municipal Commissioner was entrusted with drafting a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed developments.
Metro Route From Kharadi To Pune International Airport
In order to ease transport, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has been asked to prepare a DPR for the extension of the metro from Kharadi to Pune Airport. This would occur on the Khadakwasla-Swargate-Hadapsar-Kharadi corridor, enabling uninterrupted metro service for travelers crossing Khadakwasla.
Multimodal Transport Hub At Kharadi
As Kharadi is a fast-developing hub, both residential and commercial, it has found its name as a key point in creating an Interchangeable and Multimodal Transport Hub linking multiple corridors of the metro so that air travel is made direct from Pune Airport from areas like:
- 1. Chandani Chowk to Wagholi – Direct access to airport from Kharadi
- 2. Nigdi to Swargate – All those reaching swargate can access the airport through Kharadi
- 3. Shivajinagar-Kharadi-Airport Corridor – Another easy route for the travelers
- 4. Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar – To connect for airport access through Kharadi
- 5. Khadakwasla-Swargate-Hadapsar connecting – Seamless connection through airport for these areas
Double-Decker Flyover To Ease Traffic On Vanaz-Chandani Chowk Corridor
To relieve traffic congestion on the Vanaz to Chandani Chowk corridor, the authorities have proposed a double-decker flyover on the model of the successful flyover at Nal Stop, which will help ease traffic and secure ease of movement along the metro route.
