A man died by suicide after his marriage proposal was rejected by a woman who was reportedly in a relationship with him for the last four years. The incident took place in Pune’s Hadapsar area. The man took his life by jumping before a train.
According to reports, the police officials registered a case upon receiving a complaint from the man’s sister. The police registered a case at Wanowrie police station against the woman for abetment of suicide and extracting money from him.
The police said the man was living with his mother in the Vaiduwadi area of the city. He was used to selling water bottles at private transports in Shewalewadi. His mother used to do dishes for their living.
The police further said that the woman was living next to his home and the two were in a relationship for the last four years. They had informed their families that they would marry.
It has been alleged in the complaint that the woman was used to borrowing money for her daily needs and clothes. She was employed with a gym and the man bought a two-wheeler to drop her. The deceased was paying the installment of the vehicle. She allegedly started harassing him in the past few days and stopped talking to him.
On February 7, he informed his family members that he was in debt because of the woman. He left the house. When his family started searching for him, his body was recovered from the railway track.
