Following the growing outrage over Pune EY employee’s death, Centre has now ordered probe into the case. Ministry of Labour & Employment has officially taken up the complaint. The matter came into light after mother of deceased employee, Anita Augustine wrote to EY India Chairman, Rajiv Memani about her daughter’s death due to ‘work stress’. EY India had responded to the death of their employee, Anna Sebastian Perayil and released the statement that they are ‘deeply saddened’ by the tragic death of their employee.
Now, the centre has come into action and ordered investigation on the same. MoS for Labour & Employment, Shobha Karandlaje in her tweet has informed that Labour Ministry has taken up the complaint. She has insured of providing justice. “Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Anna Sebastian Perayil. A thorough investigation into the allegations of an unsafe and exploitative work environment is underway. We are committed to ensuring justice & @LabourMinistry has officially taken up the complaint”, said Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje.
She was responding to BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar who had requested Government of India to investigate this matter through his X handle. This is very sad but also disturbing at many levels. “I rqst Govt of India @mansukhmandviya @ShobhaBJP to investigate these allegations made by the mother of unsafe and exploitative work environment that claimed the life of young , full of future Anna Sebastian Perayil”, he tweeted.
