Pune: In a shocking incident that took place in Pune’s Wanowrie locality, a 60-year-old man was killed over the alleged consumption of palm wine. According to reports, the Pune city Police on Friday arrested two people who were involved in the murder of the senior citizen. The deceased, identified as Malang Mehboob Qureshi, was a resident of Shivneri Nagar in Kondhwa Khurd.
Police Arrest Accused Within Six Hours
The old man was murdered around 4.45 pm on Friday at a palm wine shop. Following the incident, police booked two accused, identified as 18-year-old Adil Hanif Sheikh and 50-year-old Pandurang Namdev Pawar. They were arrested within six hours of committing the crime. Meanwhile, Police informed that Pawar, a resident of Kondhwa Khurd is on record criminal.
Accused Pushes Victim Against Iron Door
According to officials, Qureshi went to the palm wine shop on Friday to drink. Shortly after, he engaged in a heated argument with the accused over some trivial matter. Tension escalated between them, and the accused, along with one of their associates, Akash Dhande, attacked the victim. They pushed him hard against an iron door. Qureshi received severe injuries to his head in the violent act. Reports revealed that he was rushed to a nearby hospital but couldn’t survive and succumbed.
