New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan on Wednesday reiterated that he would hang himself if proven guilty of sexual assault charges levelled against him, asking protesting wrestlers to provide evidence in the court if they have any.
Addressing a public rally, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh took a dig at the wrestlers who went to Haridwar on Tuesday to immerse their medals in the river Ganga as a mark of protest against police inaction to arrest the accused MP yet. However, the plan was halted later.
The accused MP called it an “emotional drama” and said, “It’s been four months and wrestlers want a hang to death sentence for me. As government is not doing so, wrestlers went to immerse their medals in Ganga.”
“Those who have made allegations against me, I will not get hang to death sentence by immersing your medals in Ganga. If you (wrestlers) have any evidence, present it to the Court and I am ready to accept any punishment,” he added.

Further in the rally, Brij Bhushan Singh compared himself with the legendary warriors Allah Udal – the two brothers of Bundelkhand who fought against the huge army of Prithviraj Chauhan.

The Delhi Police is all set to file a final report within next 15 days, continued the source. “The sections of POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012) added in FIR has less than seven years’ of imprisonment, so investigating officer (IO) cannot proceed with arrest as demand by the accused,” they pointed out.
“Neither he is influencing the witness nor he is destroying the evidence,” they added.
